A lot of people have written about their iPhone getting into a bad state when an app they are installing gets into a partially-installed state. If anyone has a solution for this problem, I'd be glad to hear about it. Otherwise, I'll see if I can intentionally do this to my iPhone later this week, and then see if I can figure out the solution.
I'm assuming that the solution is to connect the iPhone to your computer, and then delete the app from iTunes, but I don't know for sure.
