The Three Modes of vi

"Modes" are different states that the vi editor can be in.

Command Mode Lets you enter vi commands (cut, paste, etc.).
Input Mode Lets you type text into your document.
Last Line Mode Lets you enter commands that appear on the bottom line of the screen, and can affect the editing environment or interact with the external environment.
