Print Service Administration

Print service administration consists of the following tasks:

  1. Adding printers
  2. Removing printers
  3. Changing printer configurations
  4. Troubleshooting printing problems

Printers on an SCO Unix system can be administered in two ways:

  1. The system administration shell (sysadmsh or scoadmin)
  2. From the Unix command-line

NOTE: In SCO OpenServer 5 systems sysadmsh has been replaced by scoadmin.

Many administration responsibilities can be managed through the sysadmsh and scoadmin utilities. During troubleshooting efforts, however, it is often helpful to know the location of system log files, spool files, and interface files, and the commands used to manage the Print Services. In fact, if you prefer, the entire print system can be managed from the command line as opposed to using these utilities, though most people find the utilities to be easier for most problems.
