Commands and files for Network printers (SCO OpenServer 5.x)

/usr/spool/lpd The spooler directory for remote printers.
/etc/printcap The printer configuration file for remote TCP/IP (RLP) printers.
/etc/hosts.lpd This file is used to determine RLP user access from remote hosts to the (local) system on which this file resides. Only the hosts specified in this file are allowed to send print jobs to the local system to which the printer is connected.
/.rhosts The rhosts file for the root user. This file identifies which remote hosts are to be "trusted". Trusted users are allowed to access the local system without supplying a password.
/usr/lib/lpd The remote line printer daemon. This daemon must be running if you want to print to a remote printer.

The following sections provide detailed descriptions and examples of many print service commands.
