Images from a Colorado road trip (morning fog, sunrise)

Here are a few images from a road trip I started on September 10, 2018. These are pictures from eastern Colorado early that morning, taken probably anywhere between Limon and western Kansas.

Colorado road trip, early morning

Maybe the sun’s light will be dim ...

Maybe the sun’s light will be dim
And it won’t matter anyhow
If morning’s echo says we’ve sinned
It was what I wanted now
And if we’re victims of the night
I won’t be blinded by the light.

How to start your morning ~ The Dalai Lama

The Dalai Lama offers advice on how to start your mornings:

“Every day, think as you wake up, today I am fortunate to be alive, I have a precious human life, I am not going to waste it. I am going to use all my energies to develop myself, to expand my heart out to others; to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. I am going to have kind thoughts towards others, I am not going to get angry or think badly about others. I am going to benefit others as much as I can.”

I can especially dig the, “today I am fortunate to be alive” part.

Riding the wave of a natural, meditative state

Had one of those mornings where you want to wake up at a certain time so you can get some things done, but you wake up a minute before the alarm is going to go off and you’re already in a deep, meditative state, so you turn off the alarm and ride the wave for a few hours. Ahh ...

What’s going on?

“And so I wake in the morning
And I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
What’s going on?”

I may have done that once or twice in the mountains of Alaska. :)

(P!nk also does a nice cover of this song.)

Woke up four times this morning

One of the crazy things about having super-realistic lucid dreams goes like this:

Three times this morning I woke up, had a couple of cookies, made some coffee, and started doing things, only to realize each time that I was still asleep.

(The good news is that I had a lot of cookies, with no calories.)
