lpstat
The lpstat command lets you look at the progress of your print request(s). lpstat stands for "line printer statistics".
With an understanding of the printer subsystem, you will know what to look for when you are experiencing printing problems.
Important information you will generally want to know about your printer subsystem:
- Is a print job finished?
- Is it stalled? If so, why?
- What is the job number associated with a print request? (you will need this number if to cancel the job)
- What other jobs are printing now?
