Installing the Apache-1.3.0-VOLS.tar package from SCO

Here is a step-by-step procedure for installing the Apache software, assuming that you've obtained Apache-1.3.0-VOLS.tar package from SCO:

1.  Log into the system as the root user.
2.  Create a temporary directory for the Apache installation:

  cd /tmp
  mkdir apache
  cd apache

3.  Copy the Apache-1.3.0-VOLS.tar archive to this directory
4.  Extract the VOLS file from the tar archive:

  tar xvf Apache-1.3.0-VOLS.tar

5.  Run the custom command:   custom
6.  Select the menu items "Software" -> "Install New"
7.  When prompted for the Media Device, select "Media Images" and "Continue"
8.  When prompted for the Image Directory, type in "/tmp/apache". 
9.  Select "OK" and proceed.
10. When the installation is finished, remove the temporary installation directory.

  cd /tmp
  rm -r apache

When the installation is finished, you're ready to modify the Apache configuration files.
