Introduction

This section introduces the topic of communicating between computers using TCP/IP-based networking.

Using the TCP/IP communication protocol, users can log in from one machine to another, whether they're on the same local-area network or across the world. Using TCP/IP, users can also transfer files and print from one computer system to another. Finally, using TCP/IP networking, users can run commands on remote computers, even though they're not logged into the remote computer.
