Starting the Apache Server

Testing the Apache web server consists of at least the following two steps:

  1. Starting the Apache server.
  2. Trying to access the server's hypertext documents through the server.

The Apache server is started like this:

/usr/local/bin/httpd -d /usr/local/lib/apache

Note that this command may vary, depending on the location of your httpd program and your Apache installation directory. This is the normal command for a default installation.
