Accessing the Apache HTTP Server From a Browser

Once the Apache server is started, you're ready to try to access it from a web browser. The server comes with a default file that will be displayed if the configuration works properly.

  1. If you have a browser on the computer you just installed Apache on, you can try to access the documents through that browser by typing this URL into the browser's URL or Location field:
          http://localhost/

  2. If you're on a network, and you have a browser on another computer on the network, you should be able to access your documents through that computer. Assuming the TCP/IP address of the computer now running the Apache software is 200.210.220.1, the URL for your browser is this:

          http://200.210.220.1/

  3. In either case, a default document from the Apache Group should appear in your browser, with little or no delay time. If the document does not appear, something is wrong with your configuration.
