Steve Sarkisian, University of Colorado football coach (or not)

It was an interesting afternoon to watch a Wikipedia entry. With the University of Colorado looking for a new head football coach, I saw this tweet saying that someone changed Steve Sarkisian’s Wikipedia entry early this afternoon (2/20/2020) to show that he was the new head coach at Colorado.

When I looked up the IP address at the bottom of that changelist — 128.138.184.70 — I saw that it was a University of Colorado IP address. But later in the afternoon it was reported that Sarkisian was staying as the offensive coordinator at Alabama and getting a raise, so his Wikipedia entry was reverted about 2.5 hours later.

Awakened by the moon shine

The last two nights — January 6 and 7, 2020 — the moon shine has woken me up during the middle of the night.

Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance
With the stars up above in your eyes

And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low

And all the night’s magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush

Well, it’s a marvelous night for a moondance ...

Overnight snow

I had to go to a physical therapy appointment early this morning in Louisville, Colorado, and one benefit of getting up early were some beautiful views of the overnight snow, clouds on one side of the sky, and sunshine on the other.

Happy New Year, 2020

It looks like this statue in Santa Fe is saying, “Woo-hoo, it’s a new year.”

A tub of applesauce exploded

A tub of applesauce exploded when I returned to higher altitude (driving back to Colorado from Kentucky). I’m always surprised when that doesn’t happen to my brain.

Boulder, Colorado in the 1800s - Very few trees

A lot of people don’t believe it when they come to the Boulder, Colorado area, but there were very few, if any, trees in Boulder and other towns like Louisville naturally. As you can see in this image from the 1800s, there are a few trees on the left side of the image, which is west, and closer to the mountains. Louisville, Colorado is east of here.

This image comes from the City of Boulder Facebook page.

Driving Route 285 from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Boulder, Colorado

As a short note to self, I drove back from Santa Fe, New Mexico to the Boulder, Colorado area yesterday on Route 285. Amazing, 285 runs right from the front door of the hotel I stay at in Santa Fe almost right to Golden, Colorado, so the drive is Route 285 north to Route 6 north in Colorado, and then onto Route 93 to Boulder.

132 rounds of chemo

I have gone through some health issues, for sure, but I always feel much worse when I see little children in the hospital fighting some illness or disease. Seeing that breaks my heart, and I have nothing but love and respect for those kids and all of the medical professionals that help them.

And as I was writing that, I received an email about Marybeth Hoffman, who has gone through 132 rounds of chemo to fight pancreatic cancer. Anything I have gone through pales in comparison to what many other people have to deal with.

Let it snow?

October 29, 2019: We already have a few inches of snow on the ground, and reports call for another five inches today, with temps in the teens.
