I just read that the Kepler spacecraft was built by Ball Aerospace out of Boulder, Colorado. Here are a couple of lines from that story:
“This isn’t the first time the 7-year-old Ball Aerospace-built Kepler has cheated death. Controllers managed to keep the spacecraft working a few years ago, despite repeated breakdowns. But Kepler had never suffered an emergency like this before last week. The University of Colorado’s Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics is responsible for Kepler’s mission operations.”
The Ball Aerospace website has this page about the K2/Kepler mission.
