I may have been the only one at #bgeeks13 who didn’t know of @ShinzenYoung. Turns out he’s interested in calculus, measuring the brain, and meditation. His blog post on “Post-Buddhist” thinking jives with my own thinking, this in particular: “... influenced by the methods and discoveries of the historical Buddha but who attempt to maintain a thoroughly modern, skeptical, evidence-based, and critically-minded perspective on things”.
As he states on shinzen.org, “Removed from its cultural and doctrinal trappings, Vipassana meditation (usually under the name mindfulness) is finding clinical application in the fields of pain management, stress management, compulsions and as an adjunct to psychotherapy.”
