On some of my other websites (not this one) I had been trying to use the VPS Hosting service at A2 Hosting, but I gave up this past weekend and moved everything to a Linode server. I liked the apparent ability to customize the A2 Hosting service, but I had problems with my server, including a) not being able to reach it occasionally, b) the command line always felt sluggish, and c) it took forever to start my small Play Framework application. The same application started so fast on the Linode server that I thought something was wrong. As a result, without performing more tests, my conclusion is that you get a lot more bang for your buck at Linode.
