How Big Tech Runs Tech Projects and the Curious Absence of Scrum

One thing I’ll say about this article is that an important thing I’ve learned about Scrum is that the team largely fails and succeeds based on the Product Owner: if the PO focuses on the wrong things, you lose. So maybe that’s part of what happened in Skype vs Whatsapp, though I don’t know that, I’m just guessing.

Other than that, it’s an interesting discussion. I agree that if you have a good team, you don’t necessarily need the formality of Scrum. That being said, from what I’ve read, a lot of people don’t seem to know how to execute Scrum properly.
