"Hyde" is a simple application for Mac OS X (™) systems that does one thing, and does it well: It hides your desktop and desktop icons so you can focus on your foreground application.
This is best demonstrated visually.
1) Hiding desktop icons - Before Hyde
First, here's what a Mac OS X system normally looks like when you're working in an app like a text editor:
That probably looks pretty normal -- but that's only because you haven't seen Hyde yet.

Next, we start up Hyde, just like any other Mac application:

After starting Hyde and switching back to the same editor, here's what your environment looks like now:
As you can see that's a big change. Hiding your desktop makes for a much better working environment:
- No distractions.
- No background "noise".
- Just you, and the task at hand.
Be careful though: Hyde is productive -- and addictive. If you have to work on a different Mac system that doesn't have Hyde installed, you'll realize how much you miss it!

Hyde is written with Java 1.5, and will run on Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard" ™) and 10.6 ("Snow Leopard" ™) computer systems.
