If I haven't responded to your comments lately, my apologies, but I'm staying at the Talkeetna Roadhouse in Talkeetna, Alaska, taking time for a little R&R. When Apple deprecated Java on Mac OS X while I'm in the middle of developing a Java-based speech-recognition app for Mac OS X (because Apple's speech recognition server sucks), I decided it was time for a real break.
Staying at a "roadhouse" is an adventure, and if you're open to it, you'll meet a lot of interesting people. As I type this I'm working near the kitchen area of the Talkeetna Roadhouse while the kitchen staff is making breakfast, and we're listening to the Armed Forces Radio Network (one of the few radio stations you can get in this area of Alaska without using the internet).
In all seriousness, if you've never stayed in a roadhouse, and you find yourself in Alaska, I highly recommend the Talkeetna Roadhouse. I've stayed here several times now, and while it's occasionally an adventure, it has almost always been a lot of fun.
Finally, if you've never been there, here's a link to my Talkeetna, Alaska photo gallery, including several new photos I just added.
