Yoda on Luke’s back (cartoonized with Gimp)

This is a cartoonize’d version of Yoda on Luke Skywalker’s back during Luke’s initial training in the swamp. To create it, I found the original movie image with a Google search, opened the image in Gimp, then worked back and forth with a Cartoonized plugin effect, the Beautify options, and the Artistic/Oilify effect. I can do a lot better than this, but for the purposes of this example, I created this cartoon image in less than five minutes. Given more time, I would clean up Yoda quite a bit before using the Cartoonize effect.

I’ve used Gimp to create almost 2,000 images that I use with the Mac screensaver “rotate images” feature, and this is the latest addition.

Flutter error: Unhandled Exception: MissingPluginException(No implementation found for method canLaunch on channel plugins...

If you get a Flutter error like this one:

Unhandled Exception: MissingPluginException(No implementation found
for method canLaunch on channel plugins.flutter.io/url_launcher)

fear not, I get it about once a week. For me it happens every time I add a new plugin to my Flutter project, and then forget to stop my application and restart it. Either that, or you might be working from the command line and forgot to run flutter pub get.

Usually what happens in my workflow is:

SBT errors summary plugin

The sbt-errors-summary plugin looks cool. Here’s a summary from its author:

“A simple plugin that makes the error reporter a bit more concise. I find it useful when doing refactoring: I get a lot of compilation errors, and I waste a lot of time switching between files and looking for line numbers in the error message, when I can immediately see what's wrong when looking at the faulty line.”

The Gimp “cartoonize” effect (a Gimp plugin)

I created this “cartoon” image using Gimp. If you can imagine starting with an ordinary wedding photo, that’s what I started with on this image. Then I messed with the colors a little bit, then used the “Cartoonize” plugin, then did a Gaussian Blur on the background a couple of times. I probably did some other things, but that’s what I can remember doing. (FWIW, I’m the tall one in the middle.)

To be clear, the “Cartoonize” effect is a Gimp plugin. It does not come with the standard Gimp installation.

Nagios error code 127, make sure your plugin actually exists

Nagios FAQ: I'm trying to get Nagios to work, but when it starts running there is an error message in the log file that says something like "Nagios, Error Code 127, Make sure the plugin you're trying to run actually exists". How I can fix this?

Flash - How to remove the Flash plugin

Big-time sick today, and I'm trying to slip in a little work between sleeping spells, but Flash is killing me on my slow home PC. Here's a link to uninstall the Flash plug-in. Seems like Macromedia could provide an uninstall program or otherwise make this easier (argh!). I don't think most people would be brave enough to follow these instructions ... but maybe that's the point.
