Why is my MacBook warm when the lid is closed (in sleep mode)?

When I woke up last night it was a little windy outside, so I decided to unplug my MacBook Pro because the power tends to flicker here. When I picked up the MacBook I noticed that it was very warm, even though the lid was closed and it was in sleep mode. This morning I decided to dig into the “Why is my MacBook hot even though the lid is closed and it’s in sleep mode” question.

Apple’s pride, and resulting lawsuits

Apple is getting sued — and rightfully so — for intentionally slowing down iPhones with older batteries. The ironic things are a) if they let people easily change the batteries, or b) made this a software setting, people would be happy with them. Their own pride (ego) created this problem.

Toyota and Panasonic teaming up to make auto batteries?

From reuters.com, “Toyota Motor Corp is considering making batteries for electric vehicles (EV) with Panasonic Corp, as it ramps up battery development to help meet its goal for green cars to comprise half of global sales by 2030.” Panasonic is currently the main battery supplier for Tesla.

Apple Magic Mouse 2: How long to charge the battery?

I recently bought a new iMac, and it came with a “Magic Mouse 2,” which is like the original Magic Mouse, but this one has a built-in battery. (It would have been nice if the documentation mentioned that, but that’s another story.) Once I figured out that you could charge it, I quickly wondered, “How long do you need to charge the Magic Mouse 2?”

Jonathan Ive: A larger iPhone battery would make it less compelling

I usually like the work that Jonathan Ive does, and I’m sure that constantly pushing for thinner/lighter helps to push technology, but if a couple millimeters more could give users more battery life I think that would be a better choice, and best for the “user experience.” (Image comes from this story.)
