Here’s another photo from my drive from Fairbanks, Alaska to Deadhorse and Prudhoe Bay.
I forgot all about this, but at some point I posted large photos of my 2007 drive from Fairbanks, Alaska to Prudhoe Bay. As you can see in those photos, it’s dirt roads all the way.
Started the drive back to Colorado at 5:50am EST Tuesday in Kentucky. Waited out the morning’s nasty snowstorm with some old-timers and truckers at a McD’s in Georgetown, Indiana.
Got tired of waiting, so when the snow let up a little I got back in the car. Maneuvered through snow-and-ice induced wrecks between Corydon and Evansville. Wanted to kiss the ground when it finally got dry after 11am. Drove through the sunset in Kansas, then followed the truckers, the Moon, and stars across the rest of Kansas and Colorado, arrived home at 12:20am MST Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing if the mountains are white whenever I wake up.
I drove back from Kentucky to Colorado today following the death of my brother-in-law, and got to enjoy a beautiful view of a full moon for much of the day, including a stop at a rest area in Indiana this morning.

As a short note to self, I drove back from Santa Fe, New Mexico to the Boulder, Colorado area yesterday on Route 285. Amazing, 285 runs right from the front door of the hotel I stay at in Santa Fe almost right to Golden, Colorado, so the drive is Route 285 north to Route 6 north in Colorado, and then onto Route 93 to Boulder.
Visit Alaska. I highly recommend it. ;)
I have some family coming into town next week, so I find myself looking for things to do in the Boulder, Colorado area. Here’s a collection of links I’ve put together so far:
Hah, everything got so fast at the end I forgot to mention one minor detail here: I moved to Alaska.
On May 8th, 2007 I packed up everything that would fit in my RAV4 and left Louisville, Kentucky and drove to Alaska (yes, Alaska).
