To load the contents of an XML URL (web page) in Scala, such as an RSS news feed or RESTful web service, just use the load method of the Scala XML class:

Some time back, I don't remember exactly when, Apple introduced the ability to create Mac dashboard widgets from web pages with their Safari web browser. The process of creating a Mac dashboard widget from a web page is fairly simple, and I thought I'd share the steps in a short tutorial here.

I just created a Mac dashboard widget from an "aurora borealis" forecast web page, and these are the steps I followed:

It's pretty easy to email a web page to a friend using Apple's iPhone. When you're looking at a web page using Safari on the iPhone just press the "+" icon on the menubar at the bottom of the screen. This brings up a menu with several items on it; just press the "Mail Link to this Page" button. This takes you over to the Mail application, automatically filling in the Subject field with the title from the web page, and adding the link to the content area.
