Cecil Lammey on 104.3 “The Fan” is an interesting contradiction. As the guy you call into with Fantasy Football question, he’s excellent. His show on a previous radio station in Denver is what got me listening to him. As an interviewer he’s also very good.
But as “The Football Insider” on The Fan, he tends to be extremely repetitive, stretching a 30-second topic into a 10-15 minute segment. I’m not quite sure how to phrase this next comment, but he also comes across as, “I study more than anyone else, I’m so smart, let me pat myself on my back” attitude. As a result, I listen to him during the football season, but in the off-season I can take him for only a few minutes (at which point it gets repetitive, and therefore a waste of time).
I put this blog post in the category of career because I think there’s a career lesson in there. In all of us, we can be good — and even great — in some areas, and much less so in other areas. In Mr. Lammey’s case it’s easy to point this out because he’s on the radio a lot, but in our private careers it can be a lot harder for us to see.
