Why is my MacBook warm when the lid is closed (in sleep mode)?

When I woke up last night it was a little windy outside, so I decided to unplug my MacBook Pro because the power tends to flicker here. When I picked up the MacBook I noticed that it was very warm, even though the lid was closed and it was in sleep mode. This morning I decided to dig into the “Why is my MacBook hot even though the lid is closed and it’s in sleep mode” question.

The slow death of the iPhone 5s

Back in April when I was 2,000 miles from home, my iPhone began crashing and I had to learn the “hard reboot” technique. Then right before my surgery last month it quit working for cell calls, and I learned more iPhone restoration techniques. After that, the Bluetooth failed. I bought a cheap Moto E so I could make calls.

Over the weekend I dropped a phone for the first time in my life, and I ended up with some iPhone 5s Gorilla Glass in my fingers. But still, it works for music and messages.

Google Nexus 9 as a laptop

I wouldn’t want to use a 9” tablet as a laptop all the time, but sometimes at night I use my Nexus 9 with a Bluetooth keyboard to type some notes or start writing some code I plan to work on the next day. I don’t use many apps, just a decent Android text editor I found.

Pros: Using the touchscreen to scroll and place the cursor. Copy and paste isn’t too bad.

Cons: The small display and keyboard.

(In the image, the word “catain” was supposed to be “captain.”)

Mac mouse and keyboard battery levels (How to check)

Mac mouse/keyboard battery FAQ: How can I check the battery level of my Mac mouse or Mac keyboard?

The easiest way I know to see the Mac keyboard/mouse battery level is to put the Bluetooth menu on your Mac menu bar, and check it from there. This menu will be in the upper-right corner of the Mac menu bar, and it looks like three small dashes with some other figure behind those dashes. (This is something like the normal Bluetooth icon, but a little different.)

Apple Mighty Mouse clicks but won’t track

Mac Mighty Mouse FAQ: Help, my Apple wireless Mighty Mouse clicks but won't track properly; what's going on?

I’ve had a lot of problems with batteries with my Apple Bluetooth (wireless) Mighty Mouse, including this “tracking” problem, but fortunately everything just came to a happy conclusion.
