Mac dashboard widgets deleting FAQ: Help, how do I delete Mac dashboard widgets?
As I was investigating the process of how to create a custom Mac dashboard widget from a web page using Safari, I remembered that the process of how to delete a Mac dashboard widget is not obvious at all. So, here's a quick look at how to delete Mac dashboard widgets.
How to delete Mac dashboard widgets
The process of deleting Mac dashboard widgets goes like this:
- Press the magic key to look at your Mac dashboard widgets. On my iMac, with my wireless Mac keyboard, I press the [F4] function key to toggle the Mac dashboard widgets view.
- As you can see when you look at this view, there's no obvious way to delete your existing Mac dashboard widgets.
- Now, click the "+" icon. This icon is located in the lower-left of your screen; it's a plus-sign inside a circle.
- When you click that icon, you'll see your dashboard screen modify itself somewhat. Most importantly, you'll now see a "delete" icon on each Mac dashboard widget. Just click that icon to delete the dashboard widgets you don't want any more. (One word of caution: There is no "Are you sure?" dialog; as soon you click the delete icon, the dashboard widget will be gone.)
