You can adjust the Mac Desktop font size (and Mac Desktop icon size) by right-clicking on an open area of your Mac Desktop, then selecting Show View Options.
From that dialog you can adjust the Desktop icon size, Desktop font size, and a couple of other things there:
- Icon size
- Grid spacing
- Text size
- Label position
- Show item info
- Show icon preview
- How to arrange your desktop icons (folder icons)

Note that if you take this same action in a Mac folder (right-clicking and selecting the Show View Options menu item) you'll also see this Mac folder option:
- The Desktop/folder background color (or image)
You don't see that option when modifying your Desktop font size because you can change your Desktop background through another menu item (after you right-click on the Desktop).
