Mac Desktop font size FAQ: How do I adjust the Mac Desktop font size? (Related: How do I adjust the Mac Desktop icon size?)

You can adjust the Mac Desktop font size (and Mac Desktop icon size) by right-clicking on an open area of your Mac Desktop, then selecting Show View Options.

From that dialog you can adjust the Desktop icon size, Desktop font size, and a couple of other things there:

  • Icon size
  • Grid spacing
  • Text size
  • Label position
  • Show item info
  • Show icon preview
  • How to arrange your desktop icons (folder icons)

Note that if you take this same action in a Mac folder (right-clicking and selecting the Show View Options menu item) you'll also see this Mac folder option:

  • The Desktop/folder background color (or image)

You don't see that option when modifying your Desktop font size because you can change your Desktop background through another menu item (after you right-click on the Desktop).
