As I think about this latest Flash security vulnerability (see How to uninstall Flash on Mac OS X), I'm reminded of Steve Jobs Thoughts on Flash memo. As he wrote earlier this spring about Flash security:
"Third, there’s reliability, security and performance.
Symantec recently highlighted Flash for having one of the worst security records in 2009. We also know first hand that Flash is the number one reason Macs crash. We have been working with Adobe to fix these problems, but they have persisted for several years now. We don’t want to reduce the reliability and security of our iPhones, iPods and iPads by adding Flash."
One point for Steve Jobs here. While Windows, Unix, Mac, and Android systems are vulnerable to this latest Adobe Reader, Acrobat, Flash security vulnerability, the iPhone platform is not.
And one of the toughest pills to swallow about this latest Flash security problem? Adobe does not expect to release a fix for this Reader, Acrobat, and Flash security vulnerability until November 9, 2010.
