I keep thinking about this lately, so I thought I’d post a list of my favorite tv series that lasted only one season. In no particular order they are:
- The Finder
- Raines
- Firefly
- Limitless
- The Tomorrow People (the 2014 series)
Other than for sporting events I don’t watch broadcast television, so with the exception of Firefly, I learned about all of these series through Netflix.
Raines (with Jeff Goldblum) lasted only six or eight episodes, I think, and isn’t currently available on DVD.
The Tomorrow People is on Netflix but not on DVD yet. One good thing about The Tomorrow People is that it ran for 22 episodes. (Though I wouldn’t have minded it if they chopped off the last 10-15 minutes of that last episode.)
The Limitless tv series is so good that I like it more than the Limitless movie. It was a great series, and I can’t think of an episode I didn’t like.
The Finder was a favorite show that only ran for 13 episodes. I originally thought that it would have been renewed if Michael Clarke Duncan hadn’t sadly passed away, but it looks like Fox canceled it four months before he passed away. I’m surprised that they canceled it, it was a really good show.
I’ll post more series as I can remember them, but for today those are my favorite tv series that lasted only one season.
Other one-season shows that were canceled
I just read that Netflix canceled The Good Cop. In terms of being a favorite show it doesn’t come anywhere close to the shows listed above, but despite not liking Tony Danza’s character, I still thought it was a good show with a good supporting cast.
