News: Apple iPod, Google's solar mirrors, Hubble pictures

Reuters.com reports that Steve Jobs got back on stage yesterday to reveal a few new Apple products, including iPod and iTunes updates. Most reports refer to the new products as a yawner, but report that Mr. Jobs seems healthy again, and made this statement regarding the liver transplant and organ donor:

"I now have the liver of a mid-20s person who died in a car crash and was generous enough to donate their organs. I wouldn't be here without such generosity," an emotional Jobs told the audience, urging them to all become organ donors.

David Pogue's interview with Mr. Jobs is at this New York Times page.

And if you like Steve Jobs' presentations, Apple has posted this video from yesterday's media event.

Google mirror project aims for cheap solar power

I just read this article where it's stated that "Google is disappointed with the lack of breakthrough investment ideas in the green technology sector", and that they're working on their own mirror technology that could "reduce the cost of building solar thermal plants by a quarter or more."

If you like solar and "green" stories, that article is a good read.

New pictures from the Hubble telescope

And this third story of new pictures coming in from the Hubble telescope is also cool. The pictures are amazing to me, looking more like paintings than photographs.
