Simvastatin FAQ: How long does it take to recover from Simvastatin side effects?
I had pretty much every side effect of Simvastatin (Zocor), including these side effects:
- feeling extremely groggy, like I was recovering from surgery
- passing out, or nearly passing out (syncope)
- not being able to focus, concentrate, or remember things
- shaking and trembling
- vomiting
- facial flushing
- severe heart-related symptoms, such as a rapid heartbeat, an erratic heartbeat, and what I refer to as a “fake heart attack,” where it appeared that I had a heart attack and had an angiogram procedure
After I stopped taking Simvastatin, the side effects started to go away in a few days, but it really took about 10-14 days before I significantly recovered from the worst side effects. As I write this today, I’ve now been off of Simvastatin for about 18 days, and I feel terrific, better than I have felt in a long time.
I ran up $90,000 in medical bills this year related to Simvastatin side effects — including the whole heart attack and angiogram process — so it’s no exaggeration to say that Simvastatin was killing me. (Thanks, Merck.)
