While I'm out of town our first business broker (Marty) calls me and tells me he's just checking in to see how things are doing. I tell him I'm having a great time out here in California, and that we don't currently have the company on the market with anyone else.
He told me that it looked like Bob was going to be coming back into the scene with a stronger offer to buy the company than before, but then his employer offered him a chance for a transfer to work in England, and he and his wife are on their way out of town. Good for him, but bad for me; I should have gone back to him at some point to see if he wanted to work with us.
Marty thanked me for the bottle of Scotch again, and we both bemoaned the inability to sell the company before hanging up.
